Portland protesters use leaf blowers and umbrellas to combat tear gas from federal troops.

Demonstrations in Portland have been ongoing for more than 50 days straight since the police killing of George Floyd and other black Americans, amid nationwide calls for racial justice and police reform.

President Donald Trump sent in federal troops to deal with the protesters, claiming they were needed to protect federal property.

However, the presence of the troops seem to have escalated protests and countless photos and videos of Portland protesters clashing with officers and being sprayed with tear-gas have appeared online.

Even the city's Mayor Ted Wheeler was hit with tear-gas when he attended a Wednesday night protest.
