COVID-19: Hotels used as homeless shelters as pandemic hits NY economy.

Empty hotels in New York are being used to shelter the homeless as the COVID-19 pandemic takes its toll on the city's economy.

The unemployment rate is twice the national average at 16%, and tensions are high - with some residents voicing concerns over increased crime and drug abuse on the streets.

While strict measures have now brought levels of coronavirus infection under control, many fear the longer-lasting social and economic costs of the pandemic are far from over in America's most populated city.
