A WOMAN has been found dead after a fireball blast that "sounded like an earthquake" flattened a house on Sunday night.
Shocking video shows the aftermath of the horror blaze, with one man still fighting for his life in hospital.
Six fire engines, several ambulances and other specialist rescue workers were scrambled shortly before 9pm in Kingstanding, Birmingham.
Gas network engineers were on the scene last night as emergency crews evacuated residents from nearby homes.
The fire service said: "The incident, believed to be a gas explosion, has completely destroyed one property and significantly damaged three adjoining properties."
West Midlands Ambulance service said a man was helped from the property by hero neighbours at the scene but had suffered "very serious injuries".
He is being treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
Another four men were discharged after treatment at the scene.
It was not yet clear if there were any further casualties as crews searched the rubble overnight.
The explosion was reportedly heard three miles away in Sutton Coldfield and sent a huge plume of grey smoke over the area.
