An analysis of almost two million tweets by OFCOM has revealed that almost 68% of footballers were abused at least once on Twitter during the first five months of the 2021/2022 season.
Of these tweets, 1 in 12 targeted a player's race or gender.
The social media giant says it is committed to combating abuse and knows there is still work to be done.
