Sudan Factory Fire Kills 23

A fire at a ceramics factory in Khartoum, Sudan killed 23 people and injured more than 130 after a gas tanker exploded, Tuesday, December 3.

The blast was so powerful that it blew the tanker into a nearby lot, according to witnesses.

The casualties included employees of various nationalities, medical sources said. Those injured were transferred to hospitals around the capital, some of them in critical condition.

The fire completely destroyed the factory, a government spokesperson said.

The government called on citizens to donate blood to aid in the treatment of the wounded. (REUTERS)
