Southern EU Leaders take Family Photo at Greece Summit.

Several Southern European Union leaders posed for a “family photo,” Friday, September 17, as Greece hosts a summit to discuss climate change issues, among other things.

A Greek government spokesman said the meeting will address issues facing the “safety and stability” in the Mediterranean region.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said the protection of biodiversity and better cooperation in dealing with wildfires would be priorities at the meeting.

Greece was hit hard by wildfires this summer, losing over 100,00 hectares of forest and agricultural land.

Additionally, the leaders, known as the Med7, will discuss a potentially problematic refugee influx due to the chaos in Afghanistan. (AFP)
