Biden runs off-stage as torrential rain cuts Florida rally short.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden abruptly ended his campaign rally in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday after getting caught in the rain.

Before running off stage, he urged his supporters to turn in their ballots immediately with the clock winding down to Election Day.

"I never forgot what President Kennedy said about going to the moon. He said we're going. You know why? Because we refuse to postpone. Let's not postpone and get out of the rain," he said.

President Donald Trump was also in the battleground state of Florida to rally supporters on Thursday. Opinion polls show Biden with a significant edge nationally, but with a tighter lead in the battleground states that play a decisive role in the final result.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday showed Trump had essentially moved into a tie with Biden in Florida, with 49% saying they would vote for Biden and 47% for the president.

With its 29 electoral votes, the state is a major prize in Tuesday's election. Trump's victory in Florida in 2016 was vital to his surprise election win.
