In Switzerland, same-sex couples can now tie the knot. The first weddings took place on Friday — legalized after Swiss voters approved the expansion of marriage rights in a referendum last year. The change means same-sex couples now hold the same status as other married couples. Switzerland is one of the last countries in western Europe to recognize same-sex marriages.
