Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov says the number of laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine grew by 706 in the past day, to 44,334.

"In the past day, 706 people tested positive for the coronavirus, including 63 children and 56 healthcare workers. Some 192 new patients were hospitalized. There were 12 fatalities and 88 recoveries," he said at a briefing on June 30.

In total 44,334 coronavirus cases have been reported cases since the outbreak of the pandemic; of them there are 3,238 children and 6,721 healthcare workers, he added.

The overall death toll is 1,159 people.

As many as 19,115 patients have already recovered.

A total of 655,750 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests have been conducted.

Overall incidence per region is the following: 1,864 cases in Vinnytsia region; 2,368 in Volyn region; 1,087 in Dnipropetrovsk region; 481 in Donetsk region; 1,404 in Zhytomyr region; 2,889 in Zakarpattia region; 572 in Zaporizhia region; 2,395 in Ivano-Frankivsk region; 646 in Kirovohrad region; 5,037 in the city of Kyiv; 2,585 in Kyiv region; 5,435 in Lviv region; 80 in Luhansk region; 444 in Mykolayiv region; 1,698 in Odesa region; 314 in Poltava region; 3,712 in Rivne region; 297 in Sumy region; 1,919 in Ternopil region; 2,134 in Kharkiv region; 191 in Kherson region; 803 in Khmelnytsky region; 4,801 in Chernivtsi region; 642 in Cherkasy region; 536 in Chernihiv region.

Data from Russia-occupied areas – the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions – is not available.

COVID-19 tests were conducted by the Public Health Center's virological reference laboratory and regional laboratories. As of the morning of June 30, 2020, the Center had received 796 reports of suspected cases. In total, there have been 88,961 reports on suspected COVID-19 since the beginning of 2020.

As UNIAN reported earlier, there were 43,628 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine as of the morning of June 29. They include 1,147 deaths and 19,027 recoveries. Some 646 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.
