The Security Civil Committee of NATO actively discusses the situation in Ukraine as French Senator from the Republicans Party Joëlle Garriaud-Maylam stated during the meeting with members of France’s Senate, MPs of the National Assembly and representative of diplomatic and business circles.
“I am happy that there is such an initiative. I believe that it is extremely important that lawmakers should also participate in the search of the ways to emerge from the crisis and building of peace in Ukraine. In France, all of us are concerned about this issue and of course we wish the Minsk Agreements to be fulfilled and to find the solution for the peace settlement. Moreover, not only here in the parliament but in other structures, these issues are discussed because I, for example, participate in one of five commissions of the PA NATO; it is the civilian committee on security, which also discusses the situation in Ukraine constantly. During each session, we discuss the Ukrainian issue, invite experts, lawmakers to deliver a speech,” she said.
“By the way, the PA NATO will hold the meeting in Ukraine soon and we will also discuss the current issues there. And I hope to invite the members of today’s meeting, Ukrainian lawmakers to this PA NATO session in Ukraine to make all of us to reach the progress in the solution of these issues jointly,” the senator added.
On January 23, Viktor Medvedchuk, the Chairman of the Political Council of Opposition Platform – For Life, held the presentation ‘Parliamentary estimation of Normandy Format’ and met the members of France’s Senate, MPs of the National Assembly and representative of diplomatic and business circles.
