Since the beginning of the year, 308,000 foreign tourists have already visited the capital of Ukraine. The number of domestic tourists exceeds 500,000, according to Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Maryna Khonda.
“According to the State Border Guard Service, most of the foreign tourists came from the United States (26,576 people), Israel (22,684), and Turkey (21,057). Germany, Belarus, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Georgia, and India were also included in the list of countries from which many tourists arrived in Kyiv,” Khonda said.
According to her, the development of tourism after the pandemic will become one of the main priorities for Kyiv authorities. The city is implementing important projects to increase its tourism attractiveness.
Khonda added that revenues from tourist tax payments had amounted to UAH 22.5 million since the beginning of the year.
As reported, in 2020, the tourism sector of the Ukrainian capital suffered losses worth almost USD 1 billion due to a coronavirus lockdown.
