Some 28 states and international organizations have already confirmed their participation in the Crimean Platform summit to be held in Kyiv on August 23, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.
He said this at an online briefing on Wednesday, July 28, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“As of now, 28 states and international organizations have confirmed their participation in the Crimean Platform summit. This will be an unprecedented international event in the history of Ukraine. Never before has so many states gathered in Ukraine to hold such an event at the level of presidents, prime ministers, heads of parliaments, and members of government," Kuleba said.
The minister drew attention to the fact that Russia's opposition to the Crimean Platform is systemic and powerful. "They work in every capital, in every country, convincing and discouraging states from participating in the Crimean Platform. But we are doing our job, we have our strength," he stressed.
The minister noted that all leading partner states of Ukraine in Europe and North America are expected to take part in the event.
According to Kuleba, the Crimean Declaration, the final document of the summit, which will consolidate the fundamental provisions for Ukraine, has been almost agreed upon.
He stressed that the summit will be regular at many levels, and not a one-off event. Work is underway on a long-term concept of activities in priority areas, including a policy of non-recognition, sanctions, security in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea region, protection of human rights and international humanitarian law, as well as the environmental and economic impact of the occupation.
The Crimean Platform is a new consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine to improve the efficiency of the international response to the occupation of Crimea, respond to growing security challenges, step up international pressure on Russia, prevent further human rights violations, protect victims of the occupation regime, and achieve the de-occupation of Crimea.
The first Crimea Platform summit is scheduled for August 23, 2021.
