Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba discussed with State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi the priorities for developing strategic partnerships between the countries for this year and asked for assistance in granting permission to export COVID-19 vaccines to Ukraine.
The two ministers discussed these issues during a phone conversation on January 21, Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
Kuleba expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the Chinese government to the Ukrainian government in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year, and asked his Chinese counterpart to facilitate the early granting of permission to export the Chinese coronavirus vaccine to Ukraine.
"We consider the issue of cooperation in relation to vaccines not just as an intergovernmental agreement but as interaction between the peoples of China and Ukraine," he stressed.
In turn, Wang Yi assured of the PRC government’s readiness to continue supporting Ukraine in the fight against COVID-19 until the pandemic is completely overcome.
The Chinese side reaffirmed its unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine, as well as for the country's development course chosen by the Ukrainian people.
