COVID-19: Health officials report 5,590 new active cases Oct 14.

Over the past day, 5,590 new active COVID-19 cases were recorded in Ukraine.

That's according to the interactive map designed by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

In total, since the start of the outbreak in Ukraine, 276,177 cases have been confirmed, as well as 118,699 recoveries (+2,137 in past day) and 5,229 deaths (+107).

Most of new cases were recorded in Kharkiv region (+ 637), Kyiv (+422), Lviv region (+ 345), and Dnipropetrovsk region (+342).

Quarantine in Ukraine: Background

On August 1, new rules for adaptive quarantine were enforced in Ukraine. All regions were divided into "green", "yellow", "orange", and "red" zones according to the level of the epidemic threat.

On October 13, the Cabinet of Ministers extended the adaptive quarantine until the end of the year, passing certain changes to regulations.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said it was a "necessary step," adding that such quarantine is "the most effective mechanism" in tackling COVID-19 in Ukraine and beyond.
