Over the last year, Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's state-run railway company carried 942,000 passengers to the EU and back to Ukraine. That's 14.9 percent more than the number in 2018. The press office of the company reported that on January 21.

"Kyiv - Przemysl became the most popular route. Specifically, last year 482,000 passengers used trains No.No.715/716 and 705/706 from Kyiv to Przemysl. Among other popular routes, there's No.67/68 (Kyiv-Warsaw-Kyiv), chosen by 61,000 passengers; No.36/36 - Odesa-Przemysl-Odesa (59,000) and No.31/32, Kyiv-Riga (24,000 passengers)", reads the message.

“Ukrzaliznytsia” has sold 25 million tickets since the beginning of 2019. As of late October, 60% of them were sold via online services, the press service of "Ukrzaliznytsia" reported. It is worth noting that online ticket sales were introduced in 2009. Since then, passengers have purchased almost 117 million tickets online. In 2017, 41% of tickets were sold through online services, and in 2018, it made 50%.

As we reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the strategy for Ukrzaliznytsia for 2019-2023. According to the approved strategy, the company will hold ten key events, including the implementation of reasonable tariffs for 2019-2022, reorganization of the society from the regional structure in business-segments in 2020-2022.
