The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has minted a coin to honor outstanding Ukrainian opera singer and Donbas war hero Vasyl Slipak.
That's according to the NBU's press service.

The two-hryvnia coin will be issued with a circulation of 35,000 pieces. A portrait of Slipak, a note row and Ukraine's smaller coat of arms are depicted on its head side.

- Wassyl (Vasyl) Slipak was a Ukrainian baritone opera singer.
- Slipak, who had lived in France for 19 years, working at the Paris Opera, was shot dead by an enemy sniper from Russia-led forces in Donbas on June 29, 2016.
- Slipak was serving in the Ukrainian army, defending Ukraine against Russian aggression.
