Lubinets calls on international community to respond to new Russia’s attacks on ZNPP site.

Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets has called on the international community to respond to another shelling by Russian troops of the Zaporizhzhia NPP site.

In a post on Telegram, he wrote: “Today, more than ten attacks on the ZNPP site were recorded. Russia continues to demonstrate its ‘status’ as a terrorist country. The shelling resulted in damage to the station's infrastructure.”

According to Lubinets, that refers to the infrastructure that would allow the fifth and sixth power units to be launched to restore electricity production at the Zaporizhzhia NPP for Ukraine's needs.

The ombudsman also noted that Russia is neglecting the stay of International Atomic Energy Agency experts at the ZNPP, as well as "the common sense and safety of not only those who are at the station, but also those people who may become victims of an irreparable tragedy."

As Ukrinform reported, powerful explosions rocked the area of ZNPP on Saturday evening and again on Sunday morning.

According to the IAEA, there had been damage to some buildings, systems and equipment at the ZNPP site, but “none of them so far critical for nuclear safety and security.”
