President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said he did not intend to conduct direct negotiations with the militants, but he wanted to include IDPs representatives in the Minsk group. He stated this during the Freedom of Speech with Savik Shuster talk show.

"Ukraine does not talk with the militants ... The president does not speak directly and will not talk to them, this is understandable. ... We understand that it cannot be said that all they are separatists - it’s not true. Many people crossing the checkpoint, they are asking... I met with them in the Stanytsia Luhanska, Zolote, they want an end to the war ... We should talk with these people ... It's very simple - let's talk with everyone. Let the residents who moved, let them come to Minsk, sit at the table and say why they moved, what happened, "the president said.

Earlier President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Normandy format meeting is already a victory, but he seeks to return with a concrete result.

“I want to return with specific things, with a concrete result. But we understand that we will not succeed in everything. The meeting is already a victory. We have unblocked it for 3 years, since 2016 there has been no dialogue, and therefore there was not even the opportunity to talk about ending the war. That's what I'm waiting for, what I'm looking for and really want to find," the president said.

Zelensky added he hoped for the support of other participants in the meeting. "I really want to believe that Germany and France will support us. And if something goes wrong, I will do everything for them to be on our side. Whatever it is, they say they believe that Europe supports Ukraine because we are right, "he said.
