The United States supports the Ukrainian people and their hopes for prosperous economy, a government that respects the rights of Ukrainians and treats all citizens equally in accordance with the law.

“We stand with the Ukrainian people and the promises of the Euromaidan - a prosperous economy, a government that works for Ukrainians, respects their rights, and treats all citizens equally under the law,” the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine posted on Twitter.

In addition, U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Kristina Kvien addressed Ukrainians, emphasizing that more work is needed to live up to the aspirations of the Revolution of Dignity.

“Chief among them is strengthening the institutions that fight against the corrupt-vested interests that bribe judges, buy members of Parliament and threaten journalists and civil society. Until these self-serving individuals are required to follow the same rules as ordinary citizens, the vision of Euromaidan will not be realized. Ukraine must also be free of interference and aggression from Russia, including an end to Russia’s occupation of Crimea and the withdrawal of Russian forces from eastern Ukraine,” Kvien stressed.

According to the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires, the United States stands with the Ukrainian people and the promises of Euromaidan – a prosperous Western-looking Ukraine with full sovereignty and territorial integrity.

On Saturday, November 21, Ukraine marks the Day of Dignity and Freedom.

The holiday was established in accordance with the presidential decree of November 13, 2014 in honor of the commencement on this day of two significant and fateful events in contemporary Ukrainian history - the 2004 Orange Revolution and the 2013 Revolution of Dignity.

The Day of Dignity and Freedom became a kind of successor to the Freedom Day holiday, which was celebrated in honor of the Orange Revolution on November 22 from 2005 to 2011 but was later canceled.

It was on November 21, 2013, when Ukrainians started to hold the first protest rallies in response to the decision of the then government to stop the country's movement towards European integration and freeze preparations for the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. The change in the legislatively enshrined priorities of Ukraine's foreign policy triggered the indignation of Ukrainians.
