Rolling blackouts introduced in seven regions of Ukraine.

Schedules of rolling power shutdowns have been introduced in Kyiv and seven regions of Ukraine since 6:00 on Saturday.

That’s according to a report by NEC Ukrenergo, the operator of the country’s power grid.

Ukrenergo’s Dispatch Center has issued the relevant instructions to regional distribution companies. The blackouts will affect consumers in the city of Kyiv, as well as Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions, according to the report.

Ukrenergo recalls that the schedules of rolling blackouts provide that certain groups of consumers will see restrictions imposed on a daily basis, according to a certain schedule drawn up by operators of distribution networks for each particular region.

Outage schedules should have been developed and published by regional distributors in advance, the company stresses.

It is noted that consumption caps are required to reduce the load on the networks, ensure sustainable balancing of the power system, and avoid repeated accidents after the power grids were damaged by Russian missile and drone attacks.

"Repair and restoration works continue around the clock. We ask for your understanding and support," the company emphasized.

It is reported that outage schedules can be found on the websites of distribution companies (oblenergos).
