Zelensky signs law on mechanisms for debt repayment in wholesale electricity market.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law on mechanisms for paying off debts in the wholesale electricity market, the president’s press service reports.

"President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed the Law ‘On mechanisms to pay off debts accumulated in the wholesale electricity market’ (No.719-IX), which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on June 17, 2020. The law is aimed at full repayment of debts in the wholesale electricity market,” reads the document.

According to the document, the debt repayment is carried out through the procedure of mutual settlements, transfer of debt and assignment of the right of claim and repayment (cancellation) of debt from the state budget.

As expected, the implementation of the law will contribute to implementing the next stage of introducing a new electricity market and solving the problems of the financial state of enterprises in the electricity market.
