Ukrainian Ambassador to Georgia Ihor Dolhov, who was recalled from the country on March 1, has not left Tbilisi, the Rustavi 2 television company said after filming Dolhov near his residence in the Georgian capital.
"This is a private residence, read the Vienna Convention and obey the rules. I'll call the police," Dolhov told a Rustavi 2 film crew.
Dolhov later told the Georgia Public Broadcasting that he would meet with journalists at the embassy later on Tuesday.
Andriy Kasyanov, spokesperson for the Ukrainian embassy in Tbilisi, said Dolhov is currently conducting consultations with the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and has not started performing his duties as the chief of mission.
"The Ukrainian ambassador to Georgia has been recalled to the Foreign Ministry for consultations. We will inform the Georgian Foreign Ministry about the ambassador's return to Tbilisi. Consultations with the ambassador may be held in different formats. The embassy is continuing to work in Georgia amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, during which diplomacy works differently from the classic mode," Kasyanov said at a press briefing.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on March 1 that the Ukrainian ambassador was recalled from Georgia for consultations over the Georgian government's decision not to join the sanctions on Russia and to hinder Georgian volunteers from travelling to Ukraine.
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili urged Zelensky to return the Ukrainian ambassador to Tbilisi on March 14.
