10pm Arsenal news LIVE: Allegri favourite for job, Nuno won’t rule out Gunners, Ancelotti could join for free.

BRENDAN RODGERS has distanced himself from the Arsenal job - but former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is said to be willing to consider a stunning switch across North London.

However, Arsenal will need to open their chequebook to attract a big name, with Freddie Ljungberg and Mikel Arteta leading the way if they opt for a budget option instead.

RESULTS from around the Premier League this evening have conspired to send Arsenal down to 10th in the table.

Wolves' 2-0 win over West Ham United leaves the Gunners four points adrift of fifth place ahead of their game against Brighton tomorrow evening.

They will, however climb above local rivals Tottenham Hotspur with a defeat of the Seagulls after Jose Mourinho's side were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United.

HE'S in the dugout now and was some player in his day. Take a look back at Freddie Ljungberg's brace of strikes on this day in 2001.

There's a Thierry Henry free-kick and the most ridiculous Dennis Bergkamp assist thrown into the mix as well. What more could you want?

NICOLAS PEPE'S Arsenal career is yet to really get going since his £72m move to the club this summer.

The winger was chased by a number of clubs before Arsenal eventually won the race for his signature.

It has now been revealed by Atletico Madrid scout Eric Olhats that the Spanish club spent time watching a player he was eager to bring to the club.

“Last year we were looking at Pepe, I would've really liked us to bring him in,” he told reporters in France.

“I put his name to the Atletico board, but you know how it is. For each person there are three, four or five names and I am not the one who decides.”

AHEAD of his home bow as Arsenal manager Freddie Ljungberg is aware of the need to get a raging fan base back on side.

The end of Unai Emery's tenure saw supporters staying away from matches as they ran out of patience with disappointing results and poor football.

Ljungberg has made it clear that the best way to ensure fans back his arsenal side is to produce performances worthy of cheering for.

He said: “The only way to change an atmosphere is how you play. The fans were amazing at Norwich, they got more energy the more we played in the first half. They were great, even when we went down.

“When it comes to the Emirates, fans want us to win games and play good football. The only way to try and get a good atmosphere is to try and achieve that.”
