Zelensky calls visit by PMs of Poland, Czech Republic and Slovenia a courageous and friendly step.
Today’s visit by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša to Kyiv is a courageous step, demonstrating their attitude towards Ukraine.
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“I would like to thank you for helping us a lot. It is a strong position that at such a time… when even the ambassadors have left Ukraine due to a full-scale invasion of our land by the Russian Federation, these people – the leaders of their beautiful independent European countries – are not afraid of anything. They are afraid of our fate, and they are here to support us. This is a great, right, courageous and friendly step. I am confident that, with such friends, such neighboring countries and partners, we can indeed win,” Zelensky told.
In his words, most importantly, the Ukrainian authorities can ‘absolutely trust these people’.
“Hence, when we are talking of security guarantees, our future in the European Union, or sanctions policy, we are 100% sure that everything we discuss will reach the goal and we will achieve positive results in terms of our security,” Zelensky noted.
Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša were discussing further support for Ukraine with the Ukrainian leadership in Kyiv.
A reminder that, on March 15, 2022, the prime ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia arrived in Ukraine. It is the first visit by international guests of such a level to Kyiv since the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine started.
On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and destroying the key infrastructure facilities, launching missile and air strikes on residential areas in Ukrainian cities and villages, killing civilians in Ukraine.
