Financial Times: Russia’s Putin sounds alarm over risks of cryptocurrencies

Russian president Vladimir Putin warned about the risks of cryptocurrencies on October 10 and indicated regulators in Moscow were ready to crack down on the boom. Mr Putin said at a government meeting in Sochi that cryptocurrencies had “serious risks” including “the possibility to launder criminally obtained money, evade taxes and even finance terrorism, as well as, of course, perpetuating fraudulent schemes that obviously may affect ordinary citizens.”
