Svitolina wins her first game in WTA tournament in China.

The world's No.3 in tennis Elina Svitolina proved victorious in the Round of the Last 16 of the WTA tournament in Zhengzhou, China.

The Ukrainian stood against Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan. The Kazakh athlete won the first set and then lost the second. The things went into a tie break, where Ukrainian made a tremendous comeback from 0-4. Eventually, Svitolina was the one to triumph (6:3, 1:6, 6:7).

In the quarterfinals, Svitolina will face French athlete Kristina Mladenovic.

Previously, the Ukrainian stood against Serena Williams in the US Open semifinals. It was their sixth meeting. The first set proved tough for the American, but Williams still won it (6:3). Svitolina fought back in the second but eventually gave in to the tougher and more experienced opponent (6:1).
