He stated this during delivering his speech on congratulations on Day of victory over Nazism on May 9, as TASS reported.

“The victory won by the courage of the participants of the defense of the old Russian capitals - Kyiv and Novgorod Veliky, by the fearlessness of the defenders of Smolensk, Odesa, Sevastopol, and by the resistance of the inhabitants of Leningrad during the blockade,” Putin said.

As we reported earlier, Almost 5,000 Russian servicemen participated in parades in occupied territories of Crimea on May 9. TASS reported this citing Alexey Rulev, the representative of the press service of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.
