MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry’s 10-day royal tour to Africa starts tomorrow and a royal author claims Archie is the “best ticket” for them to win over the public.
Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty Magazine, said the four-month-old royal baby could be key for restoring their image.
The couple have been hit with criticism this year, especially after taking four private jets in 11 days after speaking out about climate change.
They also came under fire for wanting to keep Archie’s birth, christening and godparents private, after paying £2.4million of the taxpayer’s money renovating Frogmore Cottage.
Ingrid told the Telegraph: “From a public relations point of view the Duke and Duchess really do need to show the people Archie.
“He is the best ticket they have got for getting people to refall in love with them.”
Archie is due to join his parents on the royal tour, although he is currently not scheduled in the official itinerary.
And after a number of public appearances together in Cape Town, Meghan is expected to stay in Johannesburg with Archie while Prince Harry goes to Botswana, Angola and Malawi.
This will be the first overseas trip the Sussex family will make as a three and Prince Harry says he can’t wait to share his “second home” of South Africa with his wife and son.
Ingrid advised that in order to gain popularity, the Sussexes will have to let the baby be seen by the public during the trip.
She added: “People are very susceptible to images of children. I don't see the point of hauling him all the way there only to keep him under wraps.”
The tot hasn't yet officially been seen in public since Harry and Meghan first showed him off to the world after he was born in Windsor in May.
Meghan also saw backlash when she banned Wimbledon fans from taking photos of her as she attended the tournament this summer.
She has now enlisted the help of a crisis management firm that once represented Harvey Weinstein in a bid to improve her image.
Meghan hired Sunshine Sachs — a firm whose clients included the late pop star Michael Jackson, who has been accused of paedophilia.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are flying to southern Africa tomorrow for their 10-day royal tour.
