According to local media the brawl involving three groups of boys and girls resulted in Elizabeth and another boy being stabbed.

The 15-year-old managed to make it home but did not want to tell her parents she had been in a fight.

She hid her injuries as she disappeared upstairs.

Her devastated parents found unconscious in her bed later that night and she was rushed to hospital.

Despite the efforts of medics she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police have since arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder.

A police spokesperson said: "For now, we have reason to believe that the schoolgirl was killed because of animosity between the victim and the suspect after she insulted him."
