The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Ukraine exceeded 21,500 on Tuesday morning.

"According to the Public Health Center, there were 21,584 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine as of 09:00 Kyiv time on May 26," Ukraine's Health Ministry said on Facebook in its morning update on May 26.

Of them, 339 cases (+80) were reported in the past 24 hours against 259 new cases recorded the day before, which shows an upward dynamics of the coronavirus spread nationwide.

At the same time, 341 patients recovered over the past day, bringing the total to 7,575.

COVID-19 death toll stands at 644 (+21).

Now the novel coronavirus was recorded in the following regions: 910 cases in Vinnytsia region; 805 in Volyn region; 895 in Dnipropetrovsk region; 155 in Donetsk region; 647 in Zhytomyr region; 1,092 in Zakarpattia region; 416 in Zaporizhia region; 1,306 in Ivano-Frankivsk region; 482 in Kirovohrad region; 2,710 in the city of Kyiv; 1,458 in Kyiv region; 1,405 in Lviv region; 44 in Luhansk region; 281 in Mykolayiv region; 842 in Odesa region; 267 in Poltava region; 1,475 in Rivne region; 166 in Sumy region; 1,124 in Ternopil region; 930 in Kharkiv region; 177 in Kherson region; 370 in Khmelnytsky region; 3,101 in Chernivtsi region; 392 in Cherkasy region; 134 in Chernihiv region.

Data from Russia-occupied areas – the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions – is not available.

COVID-19 tests were conducted by the Public Health Center's virological reference laboratory and regional laboratories. As of the morning of May 26, 2020, the Center had received 950 reports of suspected cases. In total, there have been 53,961 reports on suspected COVID-19 since the beginning of 2020.

As UNIAN reported earlier, there were 21,245 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine as of the morning of May 25, including 623 COVID-19 deaths and 7,234 recoveries. Some 259 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.
