Ukraine has “a number of steps” prepared in case Russia terminates gas shipments - Kuleba.

Ukraine intends to take a number of asymmetric measures if Russia cuts off gas supplies to the country.

That’s according to Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba who made the statement during a Q&A on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"Russia has not yet cut off gas supplies to Ukraine. In case the Kremlin decides to do so and destroy what’s left of its reputation as an energy supplier to Europe, we have a number of asymmetric steps to take in response," Kuleba wrote.

Nord Stream 2 AG, the Nord Stream 2 construction operator, earlier stated that the first string of the new pipe bypassing Ukraine was filled with technical gas and ready for operation.

On September 10, Russian gas monopoly Gazprom announced the completion of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

The pipe runs from Russia to Germany, bypassing Ukraine, laid along the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The sole shareholder in the project is Gazprom. Currently, the pipeline is awaiting certification by a German regulator.

Ukraine, Poland, the Baltic States, and the United States have been opposing the project. The governments of these countries, as well as an influential group of European Parliament members, believe Moscow is already using Nord Stream 2 as a hybrid energy weapon against Ukraine and the entire European community.
