Former WBA and Ring lightweight champion Jorge Linares is willing to fight Vasyl Lomachenko one more time, VRinge reports.
After beating Carlos Morales on February 15, Linares was asked about a rematch against the WBA, WBO, WBC and The Ring lightweight champion.
"Yes, maybe one day. I have a good relationship with Lomachenko. The last time I saw him was at the WBO Congress in Japan. And he also wants this fight. But now I am a little lower in the rankings, and he is on top. So I need to go up. And I had a terrific bout today. Maybe in the next fight, maybe this year, maybe next year, but I am ready for this," he stated.
The Venezuelan boxer praised Loma's skills in the ring, calling him the best boxer he had ever faced.
"You know, I remember very well that I was in great condition for the fight against Lomachenko. I have had an incredible experience with him because he is the best boxer that I have ever faced, in my amateur and professional career. He is the best champion, he has given me a lot of experience. But I want a rematch, so I am training very hard. I really want to fight Lomachenko one more time. This is all about strategy. We need to develop a good strategy. It is always important in boxing," Linares said.
Their first fight took place in May 2018. The Venezuelan scored the first knockdown of Lomachenko’s professional career, but Vasyl was able to win the fight, knocking Linares out with a liver shot in the 10th round.
As we reported earlier, Lomachenko's promoter Bob Arum wants to set the fight between his fighter and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
However, at first, the Ukrainian boxer is supposed to unify the belts in the lightweight division in a bout against Teofimo Lopez that is scheduled for mid-May 2020.
