Steinmeier formula to be implemented after withdrawal of troops, disarmament of militants and elections.

Press Service of the President of Ukraine

The Steinmeier Formula will be implemented in the law on Donbas special status only after the withdrawal of troops and the disarmament of illegal armed groups in the temporarily occupied territories. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the Freedom of Speech talk show with Savik Shuster.

“We have a very strong position. The most important thing that we did on our part is that we did the disengagement, all the requirements. We did not sign the Steinmeier formula, but the text that we agreed on the text of the Steinmeier formula. These are important things, because it will be implemented in the law on special status only after we understand how all the troops will be withdrawn, the disarmament of illegal armed groups in the temporarily occupied territories will take place. That is, when such a situation arises, then elections will begin, and then Steinmeier's formula to be implemented. Therefore, I say that our position is very strong," - Zelensky said.

The leaders of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine will meet in Paris on December 9 in an attempt to step up efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
