Defense Minister Andriy Zahorodniuk expects that in October 2020 Ukraine will join the NATO Enhanced Opportunity Plan as TSN reported.

“The accession of Ukraine to the NATO Enhanced Opportunity Plan is expected in October. It will be a great step for us. They also understand it and due to these reasons support it. There, in EOP, are a number of benefits for us,” the minister underlined.

Zahorodniuk concluded on Facebook that Ukraine reached sufficient progress in the implementation of NATO standards and it is quite consistent with the military criteria necessary for accession to the Enhanced Opportunity Plan.

The defense minister is sure in the agreements of the partners from NATO with the opinion that the accession of Ukraine to this program will be the key element of enhancing of European security and deepening of the cooperation. He reached such a conclusion on the results of the discussions with NATO Secretary-General and defense ministers of the state of Alliance changes plan in defense sector of Ukraine in Brussels, February 13.

As we reported, NATO positively assesses the implementation of reforms in Ukraine, but insists on the need to pay special attention to the reform of the Security Service and the defense industry.

Besides, the reform of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was discussed during the session of the Commission Ukraine-NATO in Brussels.
