As a result of regular artillery strikes on Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk, Luhansk region, fires broke out in the buildings of a scientific association and residential neighborhoods.
"Yet another Russian strike on Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk was launched this afternoon, May 16. Sievierodonetsk withstood very powerful blows. Rescuers put out a fire in the building of a local scientific and production association. In Lysychansk, residential buildings caught fire as a result of the shelling," Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Haidai posted on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
The State Emergency Service works on the scene. The number of damaged houses is being determined.
As reported, Luhansk region is under constant Russian army fire. Many houses, infrastructure facilities, educational establishments are ruined and hospitals are damaged in the region. According to the Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, more than 40,000 civilians stay in the region, refusing to evacuate.
