Shakhtar Donetsk hosted SL Benfica in the game of the Round of the last 32 of UEFA Europa League.

The Mountaineers showed a more confident performance during the entire match. They deserved to be the ones who opened the score - and they did; Marlos finished the attempt by Moraes. However, the referee used the VAR video replay system and decided there was an offside, and the goal was not recorded.

In the second half, Shakhtar's Alan Patrick landed a great low shot. After that, Benfica managed to hit back, but the judge spotted a violation by Shakhtar's defenseman, and Pizzi scored with a penalty kick.

Shakhtar once again led the way when Moraes passed to Viktor Kovalenko, and he left Benfica's goalie no chances to deflect the shot. Thus, the game ended with a score of 2-1.

The second leg of this fixture is to be played in Portugal in a week.
