Guterres to meet with Zelensky, Erdogan in Lviv on Aug 18.
On Thursday, August 18, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will arrive in Lviv to attend a trilateral meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to an Ukrinform correspondent in New York, Stephane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, announced this at a briefing on Tuesday, noting that Guterres will come to Ukraine at the invitation of President Zelensky.
Then, Guterres will visit the Black Sea port of Odesa, where grain exports have resumed under a UN-brokered deal.
Before returning to New York, the UN Secretary-General will visit the Joint Coordination Centre in Istanbul, which was established to implement this initiative.
As reported, on July 22, in Istanbul, at the proposal of the United Nations, Ukraine, Turkey, and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres signed the initiative on the safe transportation of grain and food products from Ukraine’s ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi.
