About half of Ukraine’s energy system out of service due to Russian missile attacks – PM Shmyhal.
About half of Ukraine’s energy system has been taken out of service due to Russian missile strikes on critical infrastructure.
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a joint briefing with Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Unfortunately, Russia continues missile strikes on Ukraine’s civil critical infrastructure, waging war against civilians and leaving them without electricity, water, heat and communications during winter. On November 15, 2022, Russia fired about 100 missiles at Ukrainian cities. About half of our energy system has been taken out of service,” Shmyhal said.
Under such conditions, Ukraine needs additional support from European partners in the field of energy, additional equipment supplies and financial resources to purchase extra gas volumes and ensure greater support for the energy sector.
