Shmyhal: UAH 16.3B transferred to repay debt to RES producers

As of November 19, 2021, SE Guaranteed Buyer has directed UAH 16.3 billion to repay its debt to producers of renewable energy sources (RES).

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this during an hour of questions to Government held in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“It is not correct to say that the government is not interested in implementing the memorandum with the green [energy producers]. We consider it a manipulation, because we are absolutely interested," the prime minister said.

According to him, this month NEC Ukrenergo has already issued five-year green Eurobonds worth $825 million. This allowed the company to transfer UAH 19.3 billion to SE Guaranteed Buyer, of which, as of November 19, UAH 16.3 billion has already been allocated to RES producers.

"The government continues taking measures to fully repay the debt. Everything will be done as stipulated in the memorandum,” Shmyhal added.

As Ukrinform reported, according to the European Business Association (EBA), the payment of debts to RES producers has been blocked.
