Energy Ministry not planning to resume imports from Russia and Belarus.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy is not considering the issue of commercial imports from Russia and Belarus for the heating season.

“The Ministry of Energy is not considering the issue of commercial imports from Russia and Belarus for the planned passage of heating season. The Ministry of Energy has proposed the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities that imports from Russia and Belarus be banned,” the Ministry of Energy said in a statement, Ukrinform reports.

At the same time, as to the current coal accumulation rates, the ministry noted that the schedule of accumulation, which has almost doubled in August, "provides for the possibility of constant passage of the autumn-winter period in the most critical conditions."

The ministry also noted that the issue of voluntary or compulsory restrictions of electricity consumption is not on the agenda.

As reported, the Ministry of Energy expects to balance coal reserves in the warehouses of thermal power plants (TPPs) and combined heat and power plants (CHPs) though imports.

As of October 4, coal reserves in the warehouses of Ukrainian (TPPs) amounted to 713,000 tonnes, which is 8.2% less than on September 27. According to the Ministry of Energy, in October, Ukraine plans to import 600,000 tonnes of coal, the own production is projected at 1.7 million tonnes.
