Blasts heard in occupied Crimea’s Dzhankoy

In the town of Dzhankoy located in the northern part of Russian-occupied Crimea, air defense systems were activated late Wednesday evening.

Across social media, commentators suggested a possible strike on the military airfield just outside the city, Ukrinform reported with reference to the Crimean Wind Telegram channel.

A video shot by Dzhankoy residents was uploaded, where sounds resembling muffled explosions were heard

"Russian anti-aircraft defenses are probably active in Dzhankoy," the caption says.

Later, the platform’s sources reported an attack on the military airfield of the Russian occupying forces near Dzhankoy.

"According to our sources, an attack targeted a Russian military airfield in Dzhankoy," the publication says.

At the same time, according to the "Yevpatoria. Dzhankoy. Feodosia" Telegram channel, town residents experienced problems with power supply shortly after the blasts were heard.

"Locals report that problems with electricity have emerged in town," the posting states.

They also assured that "no ground object was hit" in Dzhankoy, and "explosions only in the sky testify to the air defense work".

It was previously reported that on August 16, explosions rang out in the temporarily occupied Crimea – at an ammunition depot in Dzhankoy district.
