Russian opposition politician Konstantin Borovoi says the EU states could block the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline if they accept Washington’s radical stance.
“Germany is closer to the United States because in many ways it rather depends on the U.S. than on Russia. And the recent discussion on tariffs for metals [aluminum and steel] really concerns them. The Germans trade much more with the United States, and having a market with them is more reliable. Therefore, choosing between Russia and the United States, Germany is not willing to lose markets in the U.S.,” the politician said as reported by Apostrophe, a Ukrainian news outlet.
