Strictly Come Dancing 2019 live shows starts this Saturday – here’s everything you need to know.

THE Strictly Come Dancing live shows kicked off on Saturday, September 21, 2019 and saw the celebrity contestants perform in front of the judging panel in real-time for the first time.

When are the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 live shows?

Saturday, September 21, 2019, marks the beginning of the live shows for the 17th series of Strictly Come Dancing.

BBC One will broadcast the show from 7pm to 9.20pm, with Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly at the helm.

The grand finale is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 14, 2019.

Strictly Come Dancing will air on BBC One every Saturday and Sunday until the middle of December 2019.

Also, all episodes of the hit show will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer and catch up channels after airing.

Which celebrities are named in the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 line-up?

A host of famous faces have signed up to appear on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing in hopes of lifting the Glitterball Trophy.

From Olympian gold medallist to a Countess, here is the full line-up of celebrities taking part in the dance competition:

Anneka Rice

Annekais a TV legend whose former hit show, Challenge Anneka, aired 30 years ago on the BBC.

Strictly producers had missed out on the opportunity to sign the 60-year-old in 2018 but it was confirmed to be a done deal on Steve Wright In The Afternoon on BBC Radio 2.

James Cracknell

It was revealed on Good Morning Britain that James Cracknell joined the celebrity line-up.

Speaking about signing up to Strictly, the 47-year-old said: "I haven't told my mum yet. We were told not to tell anyone! She's probably going, 'No what is he doing!'"

Dev Griffin

Devis best known for presenting on BBC Radio 1 after kicking off his career on children's TV.

Speaking about taking on Strictly, Dev admitted that he is determined to win this year's series of the show.

Alex Scott

Former England and Arsenal defender, 34, has made an impressive transition from women’s football to television punditry, even managing to impress Graeme Souness on Sky Sports.

Now, it is her turn to face the feedback from the Strictly judges.

Will Bayley

It was revealed on Julia Hartley-Brewer's talkRADIO breakfast show that the Paralympic table tennis player is taking part in Strictly.

Will has an impressive record and is ranked world number 1 in his field.

Michelle Visage

RuPaul's Drag Race star Michelle said she was "over the moon" as she was revealed on the Lorraine show - after The Sun broke the story in July.

The former pop singer, 50, has become an LGBT icon after eight years on the outrageous drag queen competition.

Countess Weymouth Emma Thynn

Emmais an English chef, model and philanthropist, who is a brand ambassador for Fiorucci.

Born March, 19, 1986 the 33-year-old runs her own lifestyle website and has an online show, entitled Emma’s Kitchen.

Karim Zeroual

Karim, 19, is a children’s TV presenter, who began his career as an actor, starring in CBBC’s fantasy series The Sparticle Mystery.

Of joining the series, he said: “To be offered the chance to take part in Strictly is dumbfounding, I’m pinching myself! I’m so excited to be Strictlified."

Mike Bushell

BBC Breakfast's Mike Bushell has joined the 2019 Strictly Come Dancing line-up.

The news was confirmed on the morning show after The Sun previously revealed that sports presenter Mike, 53, who is notorious for making cock-ups live on TV, will be taking part.

Catherine Tyldesley

Former Coronation Street actress Catherine, 35, is getting ready to put on her dancing shoes.

Speaking about joining the dancing show she said: "I am so excited."

Saffron Barker

The vlogger follows in the footsteps of fellow YouTuber Joe Sugg, who reached the final in 2018 with his now-girlfriend Dianne Buswell.

As of April 2019, Saffron has over two million subscribers to her YouTube channel, with her videos mostly focusing on beauty, fashion, lifestyle and music.

Emma Barton

Emma, 42, who is best known for her role as Honey Mitchell in the BBC One soap EastEnders, said she was "over the moon" when she got the call.

The actress said: "I'm the biggest fan. Now I'm thinking have I done the right thing by saying yes?"

Chris Ramsey

Chris, 32, is aregular on stand-up and panel shows and hosts his own comedy programme.

In 2016 he presented I'm A Celebrity spin off Extra Camp alongside Joe Swash, Vicky Pattison and Stacey Solomon.

David James

Retired goalkeeper David, 48, revealed former Olympic swimmer Mark Foster encouraged him to take part after years of declining offers.

The football star played for clubs including Liverpool, West Ham and Man City over a 26 year career.

Kevin Flecther

Former Emmerdale cast member Kelvin Fletcher was a late arrival and took Jamie Laing's place after he quit.

Of the new challenge, the 35-year-old said: “It’s been the most surreal week of my life. I’m a massive fan of Strictly so it’s incredible. I’m so happy that I can be a part of it.

What is the Strictly Come Dancing prize for winners?

The Strictly Come Dancing champions have the honour of lifting the coveted Glitterball trophy when they win the contest.

But each star who agrees to appear on the programme is given £25,000 for signing up.

Those who remain in the competition until the end of October see the amount rise to £40,000.

Anyone who makes it to the quarter-finals has the fee jump to a £60,000.

Stars who make it to the semi-finals pocket £75,000 and the Strictly winner is paid a whopping £100,000.
