In January-April 2021, production at the enterprises of the state concern Ukroboronprom rose by 21% compared to the same period in 2020, according to Ukroboronprom’s Director General Yuriy Husev.
"We have summed up the results of four months of difficult 2021, and we see that production has increased by 21% at the enterprises compared to the same period last year. Moreover, the net profit for 2020 doubled and amounted to UAH 2.5 billion. The amount of concluded contracts with special exporters has increased 2.5 times over four months compared to 2020 and now amounts to about USD 280 million,” Husev said at the All-Ukrainian Forum “Ukraine 30. National Security” on May 12, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Since January last year, Ukroboronprom’s companies have also saved UAH 900 million by switching to purchasing through the ProZorro system. Nevertheless, according to Husev, despite some financial achievements, Ukroboronprom still has some problems, including large debts due to lack of funding from the state.
“Due to huge lack of funding, state defense companies have accumulated debts of about UAH 14 billion over the years of independence. This has led to the deterioration and obsolescence of production facilities, in particular, this figure reaches 80% in some cases,” Husev added.
