She told People Magazine: "I lost 25 pounds. I’m a yo-yo dieter. Food is my vice, it’s comfort for me.

"I grew up eating not the healthiest food. I’ve always struggled so now I found, I had to just get a grip.”

Dolores decided to follow the controversial Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) diet, which limits a person's calorie intake to just 750 a day.

It also requires daily injections of the hormone - which is normally produced by the placenta during pregnancy.

Dolores explained: "You get small injections every day, but it’s really not bad.

"You’re only allowed 750 calories for 45 days but you lose 30 pounds. It’s worth it.”

Dolores also cut out all fats and reduced her portion sizes.

She said: "The first two days of the diet, you load and eat whatever you want.

"Then you start the egg whites in the morning, six ounces of protein, an apple for lunch.”

However the FDA has warned people of the side-effects of trying to maintain such a low-calorie diet, claiming it can cause problems such as gallstone formation and an irregular heartbeat.

But Dolores has no concerns or regrets about it, saying: "I'm glad I did it."
