Marchenko holds online meeting with U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury
Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko held an online meeting with U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo.
"The parties discussed the achievements in the implementation of prudent fiscal policy in Ukraine, which resulted in overfulfillment of the state budget in 2021, ongoing cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, and next steps of U.S. support for Ukraine," the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported on January 21.
Marchenko thanked for the constant support and expressed hope for the continuation of close cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in 2022. The Finance Minister also outlined the main achievements of the past year, in particular, increase in state budget revenues and decline in the budget deficit to 3.8% of GDP, successful cooperation with the IMF, the European Union, and the IBRD.
Adeyemo noted that the United States would continue to support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. In addition, he stressed that the United States and its partners were ready to take decisive action against the Russian economy in case of further escalation against Ukraine.
