FORMER US President Jimmy Carter was rushed to hospital on Monday for emergency brain surgery following a series of recent falls.
He was admitted to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, to relieve pressure on his skull caused by a brain bleed.

It comes three weeks after the 95-year-old - the country's oldest living president - suffered a fractured pelvis following a fall at his home in Plains, Georgia.
The ex-Democratic President was due to undergo the brain op on Tuesday morning, a statement from the Carter Center said.
He was reported to be "resting comfortably" on Monday evening with wife Rosalyn, 92, by his side.
