Kuleba to Amnesty International: Don't look for false balance between criminal and victim.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has called on the Amnesty International human rights organization not to look for a false balance between Russia as a criminal country and Ukraine, which defends itself from the Russian invasion, but to tell the world the truth about Russia.

Kuleba said this in a video posted to Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

He noted that he, like many Ukrainians, was outraged by Amnesty International's report. He also suggested that in response to the criticism, Amnesty International would say that it criticizes both parties to the conflict.

"But let's clearly agree on the understanding of simple things: this behavior by Amnesty International is not about finding and conveying the truth to the world, but about creating a false balance between the criminal and the victim, between the country that destroys hundreds and thousands of civilians, cities, entire territories, and the country that is desperately defending itself, saving its people and the continent from this onslaught," Kuleba said.

Addressing Amnesty International, he called on the human rights organization to "stop creating a false reality where you have everyone a little bit guilty."

"Start reporting the systemic large-scale truth about what today's Russia is. Do it at least in the name of civilian victims, citizens of Ukraine, who were hit by Russian shells at a public transport stop in the city of Toretsk, Donetsk region, today," Kuleba said.

In its report published on Thursday, August 4, Amnesty International said it believes that the Ukrainian military, in an attempt to repel the Russian invasion, is endangering the civilian population by establishing bases and operating weapons systems in residential areas, including in schools and hospitals.
