Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi has announced the start of negotiations with Ukraine and the Russian Federation regarding a safety zone at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
The IAEA chief wrote this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.
“We have begun constructive and active consultations with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on establishing a Nuclear Safety and Security Protection Zone (NSSPZ) at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine,” he wrote.
Grossi also added that he had started similar consultations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Earlier, at a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Grossi said he hopes to visit Kyiv in the near future, and "maybe later" visit Russia.
