Most Ukrainians believe the main purpose of Russian invasion is to kill Ukrainian people – poll.

More than half of Ukrainians believe the main purpose of Russian invasion is to kill the Ukrainian people completely.

The relevant poll results were published by Rating Sociological Group, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In particular, 56% of Ukrainians believe the main purpose of Russian invasion is to kill the Ukrainian people. Such opinion is predominant in all regions of Ukraine. The other half of Ukrainians believe the main purpose of Russian invasion is to occupy Ukraine and make it part of Russia.

Meanwhile, 15-17% of Ukrainian respondents believe Russia’s actions are aimed at changing Ukraine’s political course or preventing NATO bases from being placed within Ukraine.10% of Ukrainians believe the main purpose of Russian invasion is to destroy military infrastructure, and 5% – to trigger NATO’s involvement in the war. Just 2% of Ukrainians believe Russian troops crossed the Ukrainian border to protect the Russian-speaking population.

About one-third of Ukrainians believe it is worth abandoning negotiations and fighting to liberate all territories, and just 1% of Ukrainians would agree to fulfill most Russian requirements.

According to the poll findings, Ukrainians completely disagree to give up either Crimea or Donbas. Most Ukrainians believe Ukraine must make every effort to bring the occupied areas of Donbas (86%) and Crimea (80%) back. Such opinion is prevailing across all regions of Ukraine, and now its share is higher than it was before the war started.

A total of 1,200 respondents, aged 18 or over, from all regions of Ukraine, excluding the temporarily occupied areas of Crimea and Donbas, participated in the poll.
